Quality Over Quantity


Although Tworkov was not known to be more than an occasional writer, he had a reputation for being an especially thoughtful artist and teacher, so that when he did publish, his peers took the articles seriously.

    • Yes, kseverny, I believe he was.
      The article in Art in America really aroused my interest in Jack Tworkov.
      There are some important lessons to be learned by studying an artist who, though overshadowed by his contemporaries (de Kooning, Pollock, among others), continued to produce and challenge himself. He may not have achieved full-blown fame, but isn’t gaining the respect of his peers an even worthier reward?
